Exaudi nos - Músiques de l’Esperit tries to transmit the original message of the religious song, mainly taking the text and the context of the musical work as a starting point. Rather than to reconstruct them just as their contemporaries probably received them, what we try is to bring them to the present time and to experience their validity, today.
Regaining the temple instead of the concert room,we want to dispense with the purely ornamental conception of sacred music and, always on the base of the texts that give sense to each work, to transmit to everybody, without conditions, a precious part of the legacy and tradition which turned us into who we are.
This project of Músiques de l'Esperit started in the year 2001 with our production of The Song of Songs, by Palestrina, and it was introduced to the audience that day with the following presentation text. |
